DCM Expansion into electric utilities signifies major shift in the industry to digitize construction workflows in support of Grid Modernization
Locusview, a digital construction management company for energy infrastructure organizations, will showcase new electric utility customers and celebrate their Esri Partner Network Gold status at the 2024 Esri IMGIS Conference.
“Electric utilities have been a strategic growth initiative for Locusview since 2019,” noted Shahar Levi, Co-Founder and CEO of Locusview. “Electric utilities are facing decades of massive grid infrastructure investment to support AI-driven data centers, growing electrification, EV charger expansion and grid modernization. We have invested in our Digital Construction Management (DCM) solution to bring the value we introduced at >30 gas utilities to solve these key challenges electric utilities face today,” he said.
Dominion Energy Virginia recently selected Locusview DCM for their electric construction workflows. The project includes integrations with SBS’s AUD graphic work design tool and Esri’s ArcGIS Platform and will deploy to ~1200 crews in 2025. MDU Group, who deployed Locusview DCM to >150 gas crews in 2024, will also use Locusview for their electric construction workflows. When MDU deploys to its ~90 electric crews in 2025, they will have LocusviewBUILD as their unified electric and gas digital construction management tool. Finally, Black Hills Energy deployed LocusviewBUILD for electric construction as-builting in 2023 to complement their existing ~275 gas crews. Since then they continue to save hundreds of hours per month in their GIS update workflows.
“Our electric customer growth signifies a major shift in the industry to adopt a fully digital construction workflow. The rapid pace of Grid Modernization brings lingering pain points to the forefront in electric utilities; challenges that we’ve solved for gas utilities for over 10 years,” said Danny Petrecca, Vice President of Business Development at Locusview. “Electric utilities are implementing ADMS and DERMS, running massive undergrounding construction projects, implementing Esri Modern Network Management and adopting graphic work design tools like AUD. It is not sustainable to feed these digital transformation efforts with paper as-builting processes any longer - they must be fed by digital construction workflows.”
“We are pleased to have Locusview strengthen their partnership with Esri by elevating their partnership level to a Gold Partner,” said Jeff Rashid, Director of Global Business Development – Utilities & Telecommunications at Esri. “Locusview has been a leader in gas solutions, and we’re pleased to see their positive growth into the electric vertical as well. Digital construction management workflows are an excellent way to expand the value of Esri’s modern network management capabilities with high-accuracy, high-fidelity and timely asset data. We look forward to working more closely with Locusview and watching their growth in the years to come."
Dominion Energy, MDU and Black Hill Energy will be presenting on their projects at the 2024 Esri IMGIS conference. Locusview will be exhibiting their Digital Construction Management platform as a newly-elevated Esri Gold Partner at booth #405.
